She broke through as Max Mayfield in Netflix's Stranger Things (2017,2025), a role that earned her critical acclaim and SAG Award nominations. Standing 5 feet 3 inches tall, she starred in Darren Aronofsky's The Whale (2022), the Fear Street horror trilogy (2021), Taylor Swift's All Too Well: The Short Film (2021), and joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man in 2025.
Sadie Sink grew up in Brenham, Texas, the fourth of five children in a sports-oriented family. Her mother Lori is a math teacher and her father Casey is a football coach. She began acting classes in Houston at age seven, performed in community theater productions of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and The Secret Garden, and moved with her family to New Jersey in 2012 to pursue professional acting. She spent 18 months in the Broadway revival of Annie (2012,2014), starting as a standby and later alternating in the title role. She was 14 years old when cast in Stranger Things season 2.
Sadie Sink has English, German, and Irish ancestry. She has three older brothers (Mitchell, Caleb, and Spencer) and a younger sister Jacey, who played younger versions of her characters in Stranger Things season 3 and The Whale. She and brother Mitchell shared an interest in musical theater as children, often recreating scenes from High School Musical. She became a vegan and animal rights ambassador after meeting actor Woody Harrelson's family on The Glass Castle set in 2017. Despite fan speculation, she and Stranger Things co-star Caleb McLaughlin are not dating.
