Netta Barzilai is an Israeli singer who won Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon with her debut single "Toy", earning 529 points and marking Israel's fourth Eurovision victory. She secured the win after capturing first place with HaKokhav HaBa season five in February 2018. Her "Toy" music video surpassed 100 million views on YouTube, setting an Israeli record.
Born in Hod HaSharon in 1993, Barzilai spent six years living in Nigeria as a child where her father worked as an engineer for Solel Boneh. She served in the Israeli Navy Band during her mandatory military service and later studied electronic music at Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. In 2011 she formed the rock band Coalition, serving as lead vocalist.
Barzilai has two brothers, Zohar who is a drummer and Ron who is a bassist. Her mother's family is of Moroccan-Jewish and Libyan-Jewish descent, while her father's family has Polish-Jewish roots. She was a youth leader in the HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed movement and attended Hadarim High School in Hod HaSharon.
