Hey
Record-breaking Jeopardy! champion and current host
He won 74 consecutive Jeopardy! games in 2004, setting the longest winning streak in the show's history and earning $2,522,700.
Ken Jennings, born May 23, 1974, is a Gemini game show host and author who has hosted Jeopardy! since 2021. He won 74 consecutive Jeopardy! games in 2004, the longest streak in the show's history, earning $2,522,700 during his original run and over $4.5 million across all game show appearances. The former software engineer parlayed his quick-recall abilities and communication skills into a career as the face of America's most iconic quiz show.
Jennings grew up in South Korea and Singapore for 11 years, where his international lawyer father worked, and he watched Jeopardy! on American Forces Network. He graduated from Seoul Foreign School, earned a double major in English and computer science from Brigham Young University in 2000, and worked as a software engineer for CHG Healthcare Services in Utah. He took the Jeopardy! contestant exam in 2003 and prepared for three weeks using a couch as a podium and his young child's toy as a buzzer while his wife used flashcards.
Jennings is married and has children, and he balanced family life with his software engineering career before becoming a game show celebrity. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent two years as a volunteer missionary in Madrid, Spain, during his college years. His wife helped him prepare for Jeopardy! by using flashcards and keeping score during practice sessions at home.
Nancy Zerg ended his 74-game winning streak on November 30, 2004, when Jennings incorrectly answered 'What is FedEx?' to a Final Jeopardy! question about H&R Block.
His first Jeopardy! victory nearly ended before it began when he answered only 'Who is Jones?' for Marion Jones, but host Alex Trebek accepted the response.
He taped 48 episodes before his first one aired, and his entire 75-day run was recorded between June and September 2004.
Jennings won the Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time tournament and appeared on five different game shows, including The Chase where he was nicknamed 'The Professor.'
He and Matt Damon won $1,000,000 for charity Water.org on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire on July 30, 2025, making them the 16th overall million-dollar winners.
