Jason Statham is an English actor born July 26, 1967, known for starring in action thriller films and leading the resurgence of action cinema during the 2000s and 2010s. By 2017, his films had grossed over £1.1 billion, making him one of Hollywood's most bankable stars. His trademark tough, gritty characters and willingness to perform his own stunts have defined his career across franchises like The Transporter, The Expendables, and Fast & Furious.
Before acting, Statham competed as a diver for Great Britain's national team for 12 years, finishing eighth, tenth, and eleventh in three events at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. He worked as a street seller alongside his father selling perfume and jewelry, and later modeled for French Connection, Tommy Hilfiger, and Levi's in 1996-1997. Director Guy Ritchie discovered him while he was modeling for French Connection and cast him in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) after learning about his market stall background.
Statham stands 5 feet 10 inches (178 cm) tall. He is engaged to model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, with whom he has two children. Statham does not have a twin brother. He grew up alongside footballer Vinnie Jones in Great Yarmouth and trained extensively in Chinese martial arts, kickboxing, and karate throughout his youth while practicing diving daily.
